About Butler County Criminal History

Butler County criminal records are divided among the sheriff, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa Department of Corrections, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. We built this private reference site to make those lines of custody easier to follow. The goal is to route readers to an official portal, counter, mailing address, or telephone number without treating any one database as a complete criminal history.

Why We Built This Site

Iowa provides several public access routes, but each answers a different question. The Butler County Sheriff's Office handles local arrest reports, bookings, current jail status, and warrant guidance. The district-court clerk keeps filed charges, docket events, and dispositions. DCI maintains the fingerprint-supported statewide repository, while corrections and registry records remain in their own systems. We organize the verified contacts, request methods, official searches, and known fees for those offices so readers can begin with the custodian most likely to hold the record.

What You Will Find Here

  • Agency contacts: verified routes to the Butler County sheriff, district-court clerk, and Iowa record systems
  • Record guides: how to find and interpret criminal court case records filed in Butler County
  • Official check details: how Iowa DCI name checks and fingerprint-supported record review differ
  • Record cleanup information: where Iowa expungement forms are found and why eligibility must be confirmed with the court

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not an Iowa court, police agency, sheriff's office, or state department. That distinction creates firm limits:

  • We do not issue certified court files, rap sheets, arrest reports, or other official records
  • We cannot submit an expungement petition or public-record request for a visitor
  • We do not perform official criminal history checks
  • We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, disposition, or eligibility rule as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an agency has not changed a fee, hour, address, or procedure

An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Butler County sheriff, the district-court clerk, or Iowa DCI. We only identify the route to that office.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports this free reference resource. We do not set those charges, assemble the results, or certify that a match is current or belongs to the correct person.
